Congratulations to the ECO committee!!!

30th May 2018

We are absolutely delighted to have been presented with the ECO schools highest award! It takes the form of the internationally recognised Green Flag.

During our official visit on Monday 21st May the children on the ECO committee proudly toured two visiting assessors around our school grounds, explaining how they enjoy learning outside and developing new skills as they care for their school environment.

The assessors were particularly impressed by parental and community involvement as they admired our new flower bed (created with help from Mr Andy McClarty), our new vegetable beds (donated and filled by Mr James Torrens), and the wonderful Welly Woods (contributed to by MANY kind parents!)

“The ECO schools programme provides an ideal way for fostering environmental awareness in the entire school in a way that links to many curriculum subjects. The primary aim of the ECO schools programme is to educate and empower young people to make positive decisions and to become change makers for an environmentally sustainable world.” To find out more visit the website: www.ecoschoolsni.org

Congratulations to all the staff, parents and pupils for all the work they have put in to achieving this award!
